The Countdown....
Two weeks until my due date. I am finally starting to feel ready. I have never been one to rush these babies coming. With Preston I was content to keep him in as long as he needed. Near the end of my pregnancy I got a jury summons and people tried to get me to delay it since I was pregnant. I told them no way, this baby was much easier to take care of now, no feedings, diaper changes, or babysitters to worry about. I would much rather have jury duty pregnant than with a kid. And I am the same with this little girl. Yes, I am hot and uncomfortable. Yes, it's hard to sleep and clothes don't really "fit" anymore, it's more a matter of finding things that require less tugging and adjusting than other things. But at least right now I don't have to get up in the middle of the night a couple/few times to feed a baby. I don't have to change twice as many diapers. I don't have to worry about taking two kids to the grocery store yet. So yes, I am okay with waiting another couple of weeks until she gets here.
That said, I am getting very excited to meet her. It's like a whole different stage of being baby hungry. I see other babies and just want to go pick them up and kiss on them. I can't wait to see if our little girl has light hair like her daddy and brother or dark hair like me. I can't wait to smell her and kiss her soft skin and feel her soft hair. We are pretty sure this will be our last baby so I want to take all the moments in and capture them, hold on to them, as much as I can. In that sense, I am anxious to get this journey started.
In the meantime, Preston keeps me busy and laughing. He is so funny about copying us. The other day we were brushing out teeth. I was standing there with one hand on my hip while I brushed. I glanced at Preston and he had a hand on his hip, too. Then a couple days later, I had not pulled my hair back with a clip like I normally do so I was holding it back with one hand while I rinsed. What does Preston do? Puts a hand at the back of his head, just like mommy, to hold his hair back too. Silly kid!
Preston has a great imagination these days. I mentioned how he is totally obsessed with Blue's Clues. He woke up the other day and started right in talking about Steve and his notebook and clues while still in bed. I listened to him chatter for a few minutes on the baby monitor, it was so funny. He likes to sing along with the songs on the show when he watches. He gets up and dances like Steve does and goes and sits in his "thinking chair." He has a couple pieces of junk mail that he calls his letters and sings the "we just got a letter" song and opens it up. I will have to try to record it sometime.
Preston also likes to have conversations with himself about thing he wants. I mentioned it on facebook once, about how he asks to play the Wii. He says "Wann pay wii? Yes? Okay. Pay wii." He plays out the conversation how he wants it to happen. The other day I laughed out loud at him because he was having one of these conversations with himself, complete with his own whining. He was saying he wanted to do something (I don't even know what) and then I hear him do a whine and it suddenly cuts off with him saying "come on" and telling himself to stop. It was super funny. I just love that kid.
I sure love my husband, too. He works really hard for us. He may not see it that way, but I do. I know he loves his job but like any job, there are certain aspects that bug him from time to time. I am glad he puts up with things so I can stay home with our kids. I have been trying harder lately to keep the house cleaned and stuff to make things easier on us while he is home. I just need to get the whole dinner thing figured out. I have discovered that I don't really like cooking all that much. I try but I still have a ways to go on that one. Hopefully after this baby is born and things settle down a bit, I can get into a good rhythm or something. Or we can win Publishers Clearinghouse and I can hire a cook. Ha, ha. I can dream, right?

Too bad there's not a "like" button on here like there is on facebook. :) I'm so excited for you! Please let me know when your little girl arrives! Preston sounds like he is becoming quite the character. :) I wish we were closer for play dates and such. I'm sorry I didn't call you when we were in Boise a few weeks ago. Our schedule was packed with a bunch of family activities and looking for a new car. We need to plan more "friend time" into our trips up there. :)
