Big Boy Bed and Blue

Saturday we took down the crib and moved the set of bunk beds from Hannah's room into Preston's room. We have been calling the bunk beds his big boy bed for awhile and he has played on the lower bunk and even taken a nap in there so he was familiar with it. But I was still all sorts of stressed out about doing the big switch. But he did great! We did our normal bedtime routine and put him in bed, pulled up the bed rail and he didn't even try to get out. There is space at the end of the bed that he can get out but he just stayed, like a good boy should! Yay! We have a video baby monitor and I sat there watching him for a long time, just waiting for it him to climb out. But nope, he stayed. I was so relieved.

I'm glad we moved the bed into his room, rather than just switch rooms. That might have been less work but I don't think it would have worked for him. Plus, having the crib taken down (until the baby needs it) makes it so it is not an option.

Preston has not been doing as good with bedtime lately, in that he fights us on actually going to bed. He tries to put it off and fights reading a book and singing some songs. Even saying prayers can be a challenge. But once we get him in there, he seems to be doing fine. We just put him down tonight and so far, no peeps. Hopefully this will be a good transition.

Preston has yet another obsession. He has discovered Blue's Clues. They boy loves, loves, loves that show. He would watch it all day if I let him. Good thing there are at least three seasons on Netflix! He is great at spotting the clues while watching ("A cue! A cue! See a cue!") and loves to talk like Blue. ("Bo bo bo!") It's pretty cute, actually. He calls his little bear chair his thinking chair and goes and sits in it. I need to get him a notebook, I guess.

Oh, and I cut Preston's hair today. I kept bugging my dad to do it, he has done the last couple hair cuts, but he kept putting me off. He doesn't like Preston to be mad at him and since Preston tends to cry during hair cuts, his Grandpa didn't want to do that. So I grabbed the clippers, put on the longest guard and shaved away! I admit, it's short. A little shorter than I envisioned. But it's super cute. He looks so different. I don't have any pictures yet but I will add some tomorrow. My little guy is growing up so fast! Next thing you know, he is going to be a big brother! (Five weeks until my due date... not sure when she will actually come. We'll see!) I hope he likes "Baby Hannah" when she is actually here, not just in mommy's tummy!
