Our weekend trip to Utah to see Bradley!

I don't have any pictures for today's blog post. I forgot to take the camera with me to Utah. But we had a really good time.

We left Friday. I wanted to get out of here about 11am. Of course, it was noon by the time we were driving out of town. Oh well. Preston was really good on the drive. His car seat is in the middle of the back seat so he has a good view of everything. He likes watching all the cars and trucks. I kept telling him to go to sleep, take a nap, but he is not very good at following directions yet. He finally fell asleep sometime after 2pm. About 20 minutes before I stopped for gas in Burley. Yup, he woke up. Poor kid. He was so tired but refused to go back to sleep. He just sat back there and talked and babbled forever. I made sure he had plenty of snacks and he was fine.

We were lucky enough to hit rush hour traffic in SLC. What fun! We got to Bradley's hotel right about 6pm. I was glad to get out of the car and really glad to see Bradley! We got unpacked and had dinner and just hung out in the hotel room that night. It was nice to relax.

Poor Preston didnt' want to sleep in his pack and play. I tried putting him to bed in it but he cried. Well, nothing worse than a loud crying kid in a hotel so I tucked him in with us. Good thing it was a king size bed. Once he was good and asleep I put him in the pack and play, though. Then I lay there. For hours. I just could not sleep. Preston woke up and fussed about 4am (I was still awake) so I pulled him back in bed and finally slept. It was a long night.

The next day we went to the dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving Point. It was pretty cool. I think Preston was a little young for it but he still had fun. Even if he was more interested in pushing his little stroller than looking at anything. We came back and Preston and I napped for a bit. Then we headed into Salt Lake.

Bradley has never been up to the observation deck at the Church office building. He called and they said they were open until 5pm for tours. Yay! We got there and guess what? They were closed. We were pretty dissapointed. Oh well. We went to Temple Square and the visitors center and Tabernacle. It was fun to see things again. We went to the Conference Center and got a tour. It is such a neat building, every time I am there, I just love it! Preston was a good boy, eveyone loved how he wore his sunglasses all the time.

That evening we went back to Orem for dinner. I got to eat the best Itallian food I have ever had. It was so yummy! And the resturant manager was so great, too. Really nice guy. I hope we get to go back.

Preston slept the whole night in the bed with us that night. I didn't feel like fighting or trying to move him. Plus, it was kind of nice having a little body there. For one night. Just one.

Sunday morning we got up early and went back into Salt Lake. Preston and I went to a theater at the conference center and watched Music and the Spoken Word while Bradley got to watch from the main auditorium in about the fourth row! So neat! There was a guest choir from Brittan singing with the MoTab and after the broadcast Preston and I got to wander in and hear them do a couple more songs. It was neat to be there.

The whole weekend was a lot of fun. It was nice to spend so much time as a family, out, doing things together. But it went way too fast. Soon it was time for Preston and I to drive home again. This five weeks is a long time. Preston did well on the drive home, too. Fell asleep for about an hour this time. I think it's hard for him to get comfortable in his car set. But I had a treat for him when I stopped in Burley. I set up the laptop with his favorite show, Maisy Mouse. He was happy. Zombie happy. He didn't want to get out of the car when we got home because it was still on. I had to promise him that we would turn in on the big tv inside. Darn kid.

So anyway. That was our trip. Fun, short, interesting. And I will do it again soon. Next time, I will take pictures. Blog posts are more fun with pictures.
