25 Things About Me

This has been going around Facebook and after almost a week, I finally came up with my list. I figured I would post it here, too. Enjoy!

1. My favorite chore is laundry. Really! I like the organization of it. I am good about putting it all away as soon as it's done, too, so I don't have wrinkled clothes. I love how everything is all clean and put away and right where it should be. I guess it helps me feel more in control of my surroundings.

2. I still love Mr Rogers. We grew up on him in my house. My brother, Allen, watches him every day. My mom recorded the shows and has almost 50 video tapes full of him! I just love all the places he sees, things he shows you how they are made and incredible people he meets. And he says I am special!

3. My little brother David and I didn't get along real great with we were younger. I remember one time he got in trouble for drawing on the bathroom wall. A few days later I was mad at him and thought of a way to get back at him (for whatever it was he did to make me mad, probably just breathing near me.) I drew on the bathroom wall! Guess who got in trouble? Guess who never said anything until now?

4. My favorite comfort food is Crab Rangoon from The Great Wall Chinese restaurant. They call it crab lagoon. I don't care, they are yummy!

5. My favorite color is brown. It has been for years. I was secretly thrilled when it started becoming popular again, a few years ago. That is, until I realized I was not as unique in my love of the color anymore. But I still love it!

6. I enjoy cooking and baking, even if I don't do it very often. But I don't like to measure ingredients. I am pretty good about doing it while baking, you kind of have to. But when I am cooking I am more likely to just throw in "about that much" rather than measure it out exactly. It usually turns out okay.

7. I can spend oodles of time at Costco just wandering around and looking at stuff. I like going down almost every isle. We never, ever spend enough time there.

8. I am totally addicted to facebook. It's very pathetic. It is the first thing I look at when I turn on the computer and sometimes the last thing I check on my iPod before I got to bed. I check it many times during the day. I just love seeing how everyone is doing and always hope for a message.

9. I discovered blogging a few months ago. I don't blog a lot but I love reading my friends blogs. Especially my friend Melissa. She is hilarious! I live for her "Thievery Thursday" posts.

10. I often wear socks to bed. I am just so cold sometimes! I am always wearing this geeky sweater around the house. I love it because it is warm and has pockets. I know it is a total grandma sweater but that doesn't stop me from wearing it out in public, too. I have never been afraid to be myself and that includes being a slight nerd.

11. I was raised on classical music. Most Saturday mornings I was woken up by my dad turning on some rousing piece really loud. My room shared a wall with the living room and the stereo speakers went right through my wall. I was cranky about being woken up but I still liked the music. I like all sorts of music now but classical is still usually my first pick if I just want to listen to something.

12. That last one reminded me of another funny. My dad loved to wake us up on Saturday mornings. He didn't understand the whole sleeping in thing at all. (He also had no clue what a night owl I was, staying up until 2am or later, reading and stuff.) So along with the music waking me up, he also would come in and play Reveille on the bugle. Loud! One time he even set fire crackers off in my room. Nice, dad. Trying to set your house on fire? But it usually did get me up.

13. I am a sucker for office supplies and books. I love blank journals the most! I can spend a lot of time in the journal section of Barnes and Noble, just looking and touching the journals. The leather bound ones are my favorite to touch but not to use. I like spiral bound for the ease of writing in. But I always have to stop and look at blank books and journals in any store we are at.

14. I didn't start sewing until I was in my mid twenties. I don't do a lot and am not good, but I have my own sewing machine that I love. I owe my sewing knowledge to my friend Dannielle. She helped me make my very first project, a Renaissance style princess dress for Halloween. Not a small project! It turned out great and I have worn it for a few years now.

15. I love to read. I get that from my mom. I didn't think I had a lot of books until a few years ago when I noticed how few books my roommates had, even the one who read all the time. I guess I just compare to my parents, who have tons! Every few years I re-read the entire Little House series, they are some of my favorites. I like realistic fiction the best, Pride and Prejudice is my favorite. I read that at least once a year! I got a lot of reading done when Preston was first born, I would read while he nursed and napped on my lap.

16. I love to bake. I don't do it much anymore but wish I had room for it. (And a convection oven!) I worked at Mrs Powells Cinnamon Roll shop in high school and college and loved it. I loved the feel of the flour and especially the dough. And being able to make something so yummy that everyone loved was great, too. I love make pies but don't like to eat them. I have been especially tickled with how a couple of my apple pies have turned out. I even did a lattice crust on one, it was beautiful!

17. I was once given a box full of ores. I love the cream filling, the cookie not so much. So I got me a bowl and a knife and separated a whole package. Yup, I tossed the cookie part and ate all the cream! Mmmm! I would do it again, too.

18. I absolutely love my iPod Touch. It is so fun! And handy! I love that I can check my email, facebook, my bank balance, use it for my shopping list, planner, I use it to read my scriptures, alarm clock, read books, all sorts of stuff. I also love the fun games. I can get a sudoku fix in as well as many other fun, silly games. (Expando is my latest time sucker.) The only thing that would make it better if it were actually an iPhone. Someday!

19. I have had a hard time with this list. It's taken me a few days just to get this far. But I am pretty sure I could come up with a list about my son, Preston, in no time flat. He is the joy of my life. I am constantly amazed at how much he already knows and how smart he is. I know every parent probably feels that way but that doesn't stop it from being incredible to me. I have been teaching him a few signs and he is wonderful about saying please when he wants something, whether it be food or a toy. It's sweet to see.

20. I have a horrible memory. It has gotten a lot worse in the last couple years, since I got pregnant. I really believe "preggo brain" is real. I will think of something and five minutes later it is gone. For example, I had thought of something to add to this list and poof! I have no idea what it was. I hope I remember!

21. Oooh! I thought of it! If I had three "abilities" of my choice, they would be 1. the ability to play anything on the piano. I love the thought of sitting down and playing any piece or type of music flawlessly. Wow! 2. the ability to speak any language fluently. I think it would be so neat to be able to communicate with anyone, all over the world! and 3. the ability to fly! Oh - that is my dream! To soar through the air! What a thrill that would be!

22. I never seem to be happy with my hair. Long, short, in between, it just drives me crazy. Maybe it's because I don't know how to "do" my hair? I don't know. Sometimes I wish I had long hair because it's so pretty on other people but I know it would bother me because I would just end up pulling it back a lot and then I think 'what's the point in having all this hair if I never have it down?' You can tell I have had this conversation with myself before. Right now I am starting to grow my hair out again because I don't like how short it is. There are gonna be a lot of bad hair days and funky hair cuts for awhile.

23. I am a catalog junkie. I love getting catalogs, especially ones that have furniture and decorating, like Pottery Barn. For me, it's just fun to imagine having the things. I much prefer to look at things in a catalog than online. I'm such a nerd, every time I have had to do a change of address I always sign up for a bunch of the free catalogs. It's fun!

24. If I were to be given a horrendous amount of money I would live my dream of driving all over the country in a class A motor home. There are so many places I want to see. I love the history of this country, both American history as well as Church history. I would love to have the ability to just go and see everything! And take thousands of pictures along the way!

25. These kinds of tags always frustrate me a little. I have a hard time coming up with things to say about myself. I don't think my life is very interesting to other people. Don't get me wrong, I am fine with my life. But I know it's not spectacular, like some other people. I have always known I was a bit of a nerd. I mean, I have never cared about the latest fashions. I have never even walked into the "popular" stores in the mall. I just don't see what the appeal is of plastering some name all over my clothes. I am happy just being me in my boring Walmart clothes. So I hope you enjoyed reading this list. It took me almost a week to come up with.

26. My favorite number is 26.

That was a great list! I'm glad you took the time to do it. You should print it out and put it in your journal.
