Why the Random Numbers?
So I was doing laundry today and happened to glance at the box of dryer sheets. Just a regular box of dryer sheets but something caught my eye. There are 248 sheets in the box. WHY? Why not 250? You seriously couldn't fit two more in there? They would fit, just fine, I promise. So dumb.
I used to think that when I would see the signs in buildings about how many people could be in a room. I saw one once that said 49 people. Why not 50, I thought? I understand now those numbers are determined by the size of the room and fire codes and stuff. But the random numbers in packaging baffles me.
Like diapers. Why 238? And diaper wipes? Eighty eight? Seriously? Why is everyone so adverse to round numbers? I don't feel like wandering the house, looking for more examples for you but I am sure you will come across plenty yourself.
Please tell me I am not alone in thinking this way! If you think of any, please post them as comments. Or, if you think I am nuts, I guess you can just keep that to yourself. I hope I am not nuts.

I wonder if it is a weight thing. Does the box weigh something in a whole round number? It's probably a shipping convience related matter.
Or maybe they are just messing with you.
I'll go with messing with me. I am positive that some group of guys sit in a room and think up ways to mess with customers heads. If they could get away with it, they would have odd numbers of things, not just wacky even numbers. Jerks! :)
