Does this mean I am a bad mom?

Or just a liar?

If you are a mom, you might relate to this. I hope so. I hope I am not alone. You know how you say there are some things you will never do? I think a lot of us say this when we become moms. We say we will never let our kids have ice cream for breakfast. We will never lick our fingers to wipe something off our kids face. You know, stuff like that. Well, Some of those things are meant to be done, I have decided!

What are my "nevers?" Well, let me tell you!

I always said I would never give my baby certain things. Namely remote controls, cell phones or keys to play with. I have also said I would not let him play with the computer keyboard. So what have I done? Well, I am not all bad. He does not play with keys!

Pretty early on I got tired of him whining about the remote control. So I found an old remote that I didn't need anymore and gave it to him. He loved it. Until he lost it. I'm pretty sure he tossed it in a trash can and no one noticed. So his grandma found another for him to play with. So far, so good. He has even taken that remote to church with him a couple times. He just loves the buttons! And he is smart, too. If I turn on the tv he will grab his remote and push buttons, looking at the tv, waiting for it to do something. Do we really watch that much tv? Anyway.

Preston loves to get into whatever we are doing. He really wants to use the computers. The couple times that Bradley has let Preston push buttons on the laptop Preston has managed to do some crazy things! So we found an old keyboard that does not even hook up to the computer and cut the cord off it so Preston could play with it. He likes it okay but knows it's not the same since it doesn't have a screen. I said today I would like to find an old, dead lappy for Preston to play with. That is when I realized how much of a failure I am. Sigh.

For the past few days Preston has been playing with new Christmas presents, including some plastic food for his shopping cart. He has taken to putting some of the items up to his ear and using them like a phone. I seriously don't know where he gets this, I am rarely on the phone. But he knows that is where the phone goes! So silly me, I go get my old cell phone for him! I made sure the battery was dead so he could not call 911 (that would be just my luck) and he loves it! He had a great time "talking" on it and pushing the buttons. Too bad I can't charge it up so it could light up and stuff. But even a phone with no plan can still call 911 so that is out of the question. Poor kid.

Okay, so I guess I am not all bad. I always said I didn't want to co-sleep. Preston sleeps in his own crib. Yay! In fact, we try to bring him into our bed early in the morning while he is still sleepy, it's like a wake up button! Spring! He's up and crawling all over, standing up on our pillows and knocking on the wall. So at least I have that one. And he doesn't eat french fries all the time. Yet. He is a fan, though. And likes to eat mac and cheese with me. Sigh. I guess you pick your battles, right? He is a pretty good kid, all around. I can't complain.

Anyone have a old laptop?
