Driving woes
I like my car. I like to drive. I think I am a pretty good driver. I have only had one ticket, back in 1998. Pretty good record, if you ask me. I don't speed very much, usually just about 5 miles over the limit. Sometimes a bit more on the freeway but not often. I try not to push my luck, you know?
My current car is a 2001 Subaru Outback Legacy. It's maroon. Good mommy car. It's the nicest car I have ever owned. Power windows and locks, AC, even heaters in the front seats. Very nice in the winter. And it's automatic so I don't have to mess with shifting anymore. Anyway. I like my car.
But my car has a problem right now. The turn signals are on the fritz. Every time I push the lever it makes a funny buzzing noise and the blinkers don't work. And then the gauges for tachometer and speed stop working. Go right to zero. And they stay there until they feel like coming back. Could be a few seconds, could be a few minutes. And I guess there could be worse things wrong with my car but IT GOES AGAINST MY VERY NATURE NOT TO SIGNAL! I hate it! It has always bothered my when people don't signal and now, here I am, one of them.
I have tried to be good and creative at the same time. Sometimes I use hand signals. You known, stick your arm out the window and do those signals you learned way back in drivers ed. They are still valid, you know. Sometimes I just use the flashers/hazard lights button. That way at least people know I am going to do something, even if they are not sure exactly what until I do it. But it really is driving me crazy not to have use of my turn signals. But since it seems like it is a short in the steering column it's not something that just anyone can fix. You have to have special tools to get in there and keep from setting off the air bag and stuff. So I gotta pay money. Bleh.
Oh well. Other than that, it's a great car! Really! But I had to tell my sad story. So now you know. Be glad for your turn signals.
